I don't have a car. Yes I commute to and from work and clients everyday. I understand the squeeze at the MRT's and chasing buses and jeeps.
I don't own a mansion.
I don't own designer clothing or any bling, the most that I own is my dream shoe my Jordan 6 retro which I got on sale. Most expensive thing I own.
Most people (especially girls) salivate over the thought of their LV's or Hermeses, or that new pair of shiny rims or audio system or Apple gadget. I don't have any of those though owning one wouldn't hurt either.
But in any case through years of being in the corporate arena and in my field as consultant and trainer, I've had countless opportunities to buy the bling and bang. There were times that I have been tempted to get that new I-phone or flat screen TV but never did. A lot of people I know skip lunches just to get the chance to get their hands on that new thing, I never did.
No I didn't grow up in a farm nor had the luck of just being handed them. Maybe I just have a different sense and definition of what happy is and can become.
Let me ask you; WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?
Is it the title, the corner office or that shiny new toy you've been fidgeting for so long to have? Is it that property in Tagaytay or leather you put across your arm?
I guess with the years I have grown to appreciate something else, something that gives me greater inspiration through any good or bad that may happen.
When people ask me what makes me happy, i just pull out a small piece of folded paper given to me by two of the people who mean to me the most.
And here's what it says:
And here's what it says:
Happy Father's day to all Daddies, Tatay's, Papa's, and Ama's of the world!
Continue to be the foundations of your families!
