WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO




Please allow me to share with you a personal story.


A few years ago when I started SUCCESS COACH® I literally experienced what most people would call the proverbial “birth pains” in business.  Part of those pains was the need to establish yourself as a legitimate, credible service provider.  The first couple of months in the business was like hitting a concrete wall; very few leads and almost no nods.  Contracts were slow and few in between that I had to live off whatever savings I had left and even resorted to borrowing money from people just to get by.  There were even times that I had to skip lunch if ever I was on the road because I wouldn’t have enough money to get back home.  I honestly started to doubt if this was the path I truly wanted to take. 


Things changed one August night.




I couldn’t sleep that night, tossing back and forth thinking why are things going the way they are and if there was really a light at the end of the tunnel.  I once heard a joke that the light was actually a train! 

I kept thinking ‘where’s the money?”

“Where’s the business?”

Money?

Business?

Money?

Business?…


And then it hit me.


My motivation was all wrong.  My why was in direct conflict with my what and my how. I realized that I was not thinking the main reason why I was in business in the first place, I was only concerned with what I wanted to get out from it. 


This, my friend is the reason why having a mission statement is so important.


When this realization came to mind I can still clearly remember what I said to myself that turned things around for me. 


“Screw the money!”  I said. I’ve been trying to look for it my entire life without any true luck.  Besides, I was already getting sick of the word, like an obsessed lover not being able to capture the heart of his flame leaving him perturbed and fixated.  It was the third stage of change; resignation. 

It was then the one truth about mission statements became obvious:  your mission should sustain you during the best and the worst of times.  And yes, this was the latter.

I dedicated myself from then on wanting to help first.  I found an unspoken resolve and confidence in my decisions and actions.  I was all fired up!

A couple years later we are still doing what we do best; helping individuals and organizations reach the top of their game.  Cost wasn’t much of an issue when talking to clients, there very few if not no negotiations at all.  I just wanted to help, I knew my clients deserved that much.  There were times until today that people come to us for free advice hence the birth of TAPSIBLOGS, and other non profit organizations asking us to speak for them for free.   

No diggity, just living up to our task.

Now for every engagement that companies do with us whether they be workshops, team building programs or consultancy work we allocate a portion of our earnings towards giving back to the community.  It is the same community that we actually thank for giving us the opportunities to help.  Our latest venture with one of the country’s top brands handed us to chance to visit the pediatric ward of the Rizal Medical Center (RMC).  The rewards were devoid any form of description.  We were helping, and getting the chance to help more.


Have you found your mission in life?  Why are you here on this earth?  I’ll give you a hint:  you are not here just for yourself.  You were given amazing talents and abilities to further enrich the lives of others, to actually make a “dent in the universe”


You can help. 


You can make a difference.
